Nominate Trailblazers in Health Equity

Ottawa, May 5, 2025 – The Health Research Foundation (HRF) of Innovative Medicines Canada is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Diversity and Equity in Research Award, celebrating exceptional Canadian researchers who are advancing equitable access to healthcare and inclusive participation in health research.

Now in its third year, the award honours individuals whose work is making a transformative difference for equity-deserving communities across Canada. Past recipients include Dr. Sonia Anand, a trailblazer in cardiovascular research and health equity, who was recognized in 2024 for her work addressing the social and genetic determinants of disease in diverse populations.

“The HRF Diversity and Equity in Research Award is more than recognition—it’s a call to action,” said Christine Elliott, Chair of the HRF Board of Directors. “We are proud to spotlight those who are dismantling barriers in the healthcare system and ensuring no one is left behind in Canada’s research landscape.”

The recipient of the 2025 award will be honoured at the HRF Awards Reception on November 19 in Montreal, alongside the recipient of the prestigious Medal of Honour

The HRF is eager to receive nominations of outstanding individuals whose research drives meaningful change in access, outcomes, and participation for underrepresented populations in Canada’s healthcare and research systems.

Nominations are open until July 23, 2025. For full eligibility details and to submit a nomination click here
