About the HRF

The Health Research Foundation (HRF) of Innovative Medicines Canada is a non-profit organization that invests in Canadian academic health research and promotes the value of research-driven health innovation in Canada. The HRF is one of the leading private health foundations in the country and its contributions help prevent illness, treat disease, and improve Canada’s healthcare systems. The organization is committed to addressing health challenges through research excellence, stakeholder partnerships and the advancement of public policy.


Since its inception in 1945, the Medal of Honour has been awarded to remarkable individuals whose research or contributions to public policies supportive of research and development in Canada have achieved international recognition. All recipients have made pivotal contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the health sciences and/or the improvement of therapeutics healthcare.

A fifty-year traditional of investing in excellence in health research begins by having professional skills and leadership to guide the foundation’s decisions. That’s why the HRF is especially proud of its board members. Each member contributes to creating a wining mix of executive management skills, comptrollership, clinical knowledge and corporate leadership to help guide the HRF in making sound decisions.
